Berlin: A US Air Force F-16 fighter jet assigned to Spangdahlem Air Base in western Germany crashed on Tuesday while returning from a routine training flight, the US military said. The pilot safely ejected from the aircraft and was taken for medical treatment. Emergency response teams reached the crash site, while the cause of the incident remained under investigation.

The F-16 was part of a formation of four fighter jets participating in the training exercise. Following the crash, the remaining three aircraft diverted to Ramstein Air Base and landed safely. The US military did not immediately provide further details about the pilot’s condition or the circumstances that led to the crash.

The incident occurred as the aircraft was returning to Spangdahlem Air Base after the routine training mission. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
