New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation through the 138th episode of Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, September 27, highlighting India’s zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism and several social and cultural initiatives.
Zero tolerance against terrorism
PM Modi recalled India’s counter-terror operations over the past decade, including the 2016 surgical strikes, 2019 Balakot air strike and 2025 Operation Sindoor. He said India has made it clear that terrorist attacks will invite a response.
Census as a national responsibility
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of the Census, describing it as a national responsibility and calling for every citizen’s participation.
Heritage and history
PM Modi paid tribute to Ashok Singhal on his birth centenary and spoke about efforts to preserve India’s cultural heritage. He highlighted the Modhera Sun Temple and recalled its history.
He also mentioned A. Selvaraju of Tamil Nadu, whose efforts are helping identify ancient idols and temples.
Wildlife conservation
The Prime Minister highlighted conservation efforts in Assam, including the recovery of the endangered pygmy hog population, which he said has reached around 190.
He also spoke about women in the Sundarbans planting mangroves to protect their villages and create livelihood opportunities.
Youth and nutrition initiatives
PM Modi highlighted the Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan, urging young people to support those struggling with drug addiction.
He also cited nutrition initiatives in Mizoram, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh, including nutrition gardens, millet-based food competitions and campaigns promoting moringa.
Sports and farmers
The Prime Minister spoke about efforts to nurture young hockey talent in rural areas, including initiatives linked to the Round Glass Hockey Academy.
He also highlighted amla processing in Pratapgarh, saying it is creating new livelihood opportunities for farmers and women in Self-Help Groups.
Ganesha devotion in Thailand
PM Modi noted the growing popularity of Lord Ganesha worship in Thailand, where the deity is known as Phra Phikanet. He also mentioned the Ganesh Himal Museum in Chiang Mai, which houses thousands of Ganesha idols. The 138th episode of Mann Ki Baat was broadcast at 11 am on September 27.
