New Delhi: Vivo has introduced the V80, a new mid-range smartphone featuring a premium glass design, advanced camera hardware and a large battery. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor and comes with a 144Hz AMOLED display and a 50MP Zeiss camera system. With a 7,200mAh battery and 90W fast charging, the smartphone targets users looking for stylish design, photography features and extended battery life.
The Vivo V80 is listed in India in three storage configurations: 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, 8GB RAM with 256GB storage and 8GB RAM with 512GB storage.
According to Vivo’s official online store, the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant is priced at ₹62,999. Prices for other variants and promotional offers may vary. The phone is available in colour options including Sunrise Anthem, Horizon Blue and Stellar Black.
Vivo is positioning the V80 as a premium mid-range smartphone, with a focus on design, photography and battery performance.
144Hz AMOLED Display for Smooth Performance
The Vivo V80 features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2750 × 1260 pixels. Its 144Hz refresh rate is designed to deliver smoother scrolling, animations and supported gaming experiences.
The display also offers a local peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits, which is intended to improve visibility in bright outdoor conditions. However, this peak figure does not necessarily represent the brightness sustained across the entire screen.
The smartphone has a slim glass body measuring 7.69mm in thickness and weighing approximately 203 grams. It also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance under specified testing conditions.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Processor and Android 17
The Vivo V80 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, manufactured using a 4nm process. The processor is paired with 8GB of RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
The smartphone runs Android 17 with Vivo’s OriginOS 7 interface. The combination is designed to support everyday multitasking, demanding applications and mobile gaming.
However, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset is also used in the previous V70, meaning the V80 may not offer a significant generational performance upgrade over its predecessor.
50MP Zeiss Camera System Takes Centre Stage
Photography is one of the Vivo V80’s major highlights. Its rear camera setup includes a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera.
The smartphone also features a 50MP autofocus front camera for selfies and video calls.
The Zeiss branding and camera optimisation are intended to enhance portrait photography, colour reproduction and image quality in different shooting conditions.
AI-powered features include AI Erase, AI Retouch, AI Magic Move and AI Creative Camera. These tools allow users to edit photos, remove unwanted objects and create customised visual content.
7,200mAh Battery With 90W Fast Charging
The Vivo V80 packs a 7,200mAh battery, one of the largest capacities in Vivo’s V-series lineup. It supports 90W FlashCharge technology, enabling faster charging with a compatible charger.
The large battery could appeal to frequent travellers, mobile gamers and users who regularly rely on photography, navigation and video streaming. Actual battery life will depend on factors such as screen brightness, network conditions and usage patterns.
Vivo V80: Should You Consider It?
The Vivo V80 combines a high-refresh-rate display, a versatile camera system, premium construction and a substantial battery. These features could appeal to consumers who prioritise photography and battery endurance over having the fastest processor in its price segment.
However, its relatively high starting price means buyers will need to compare its camera and design advantages with those of competing smartphones. Its overall appeal will depend on real-world camera performance, software support and long-term reliability.
