Chennai: The trailer of Scene, the upcoming Tamil film starring Suriya and directed by Jithu Madhavan, will be released today at 7.30 pm. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 6, as a Diwali release. In Kerala, the film will reach theatres as a mega release through Sree Gokulam Movies, owned by Sree Gokulam Gopalan.
Produced by Jyotika and Suriya under the banners of Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment, the film has Jayashree Damodaran as co-producer. Dream Big Films is the distribution partner for Kerala.
The film has completed its censor formalities and received a U/A certificate. Suriya plays DSP Imbaraj, a police officer portrayed with a mass and stylish look, along with distinctive character traits. The glimpses released earlier indicated that the film would combine action and comedy while presenting its central police character differently from conventional cop roles.
Malayalam actor Naslen also features in the film as Eshwaran. A character teaser introducing his role was released earlier. Alongside Suriya and Naslen, Nazriya Nazim, Anand Raj, Lal and Raj Priyan play important roles.
Scene marks Jithu Madhavan’s first Tamil directorial venture after the success of the Malayalam films Romancham and Aavesham. It also brings together Jithu Madhavan and composer Sushin Shyam, the creative duo associated with those films. The project is particularly significant for Sushin Shyam as it marks his debut as a music composer in Tamil cinema.
Two songs from the film, ‘Aathi Iva Yaara’ and ‘Aeroplane’, have already gained popularity. Sony Music South has acquired the music rights.
The technical crew includes Vineeth Augustin as cinematographer, Sushin Shyam as music director and Ajmal Sabu as editor. Vishnu Govind is handling audiography, Ashwini Kale is the production designer, and Chetan D’Souza is the action director. A. Rajesh is the art director, Mashar Hamsa the costume designer and Ronex Xavier the makeup artist.
David Selvam has written the Tamil dialogues, while Arun Appukuttan is the co-director. M. P. Senthil is the executive producer and Sushma Krishnamoorthy the Chief Executive Officer. K. Sridhar Raj is the production executive, Rohith K. Suresh is in charge of stills, and Shifna Babin Packer is the casting director.
The remaining technical team includes Hariharasuthan for VFX, Ranga as colourist and Naveen Nanjundan as creative producer. Shabari is the film’s PRO.
With its trailer scheduled for release this evening and its theatrical debut set for November 6, Scene brings together Suriya, Jithu Madhavan and Sushin Shyam in a Tamil-language project featuring several familiar faces from Malayalam cinema.
