Mumbai: Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh have announced education-focused initiatives as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, launched on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday on September 17.
While Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor have pledged to support the refurbishment of 20 schools in Mumbai, Ranveer Singh has announced assistance for the education of 1,000 girls under the month-long campaign.
The initiatives are among several public-service activities being undertaken as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, which has been organised around Prime Minister Modi’s birthday and his 25 years in public life.
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor back school renovation
Alia Bhatt announced the initiative through a social media post while extending birthday wishes to Prime Minister Modi.
She said she and Ranbir Kapoor would support the refurbishment of 20 schools, with the schools to be identified based on recommendations from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The initiative aims to help provide children with better-equipped and more conducive learning spaces. Alia also highlighted the importance of collective participation and contributing to the community.
She concluded her birthday message by wishing the Prime Minister good health and a fulfilling year ahead.
Ranveer Singh to support education of 1,000 girls
Ranveer Singh announced his contribution during his visit to Mumbai’s Lalbaugcha Raja pandal on September 17. The actor had visited the famous Ganesh festival venue to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha during Ganesh Chaturthi. Speaking to News18 after his visit, Ranveer said he would support the education of 1,000 girls through the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
The actor linked the initiative to both Ganesh Chaturthi and Prime Minister Modi’s birthday, expressing hope that the effort would receive Lord Ganesha’s blessings. Ranveer also described the past year as a happy one for him and his family. He said he visited Lalbaugcha Raja to express gratitude and seek blessings for the future.
During the visit, Ranveer, dressed in a white kurta-pyjama, interacted with fans gathered outside the pandal. Videos and photographs of the actor greeting people and posing for pictures subsequently circulated online.
Bollywood stars extend birthday wishes to PM Modi
Several other Bollywood personalities also took to social media to wish Prime Minister Modi on his 76th birthday.
Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan shared birthday messages, while actors including Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, Kangana Ranaut and Jackie Shroff also extended their greetings.
The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan will continue for a month, with various public-service initiatives planned during the campaign. The contributions announced by Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh focus specifically on improving educational opportunities and infrastructure for children and girls.
