New Delhi: The BJP’s month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ began on Thursday, September 17, to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday and 25 years in public life. A major highlight of the campaign is a motorcycle journey from Kashi (Varanasi) to Vadnagar in Gujarat, Modi’s birthplace.
Around 500 Seva Yatris on 250 motorcycles are taking part in the Kashi-to-Vadnagar journey. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are scheduled to flag off the yatra from the Rudraksh International Convention Centre in Varanasi.
51 bikers to collect Ganga water
Before the main flag-off, 51 bikers will reach Lalita Ghat, where they will collect Ganga water. They will then proceed to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple for prayers and Jalabhishek before heading to the convention centre. The journey has been described as a symbolic link between Vadnagar, Modi’s birthplace, and Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency. A separate Vadnagar-to-Varanasi bike yatra is also being flagged off simultaneously.
Yatra to pass through 10 states
According to organisers, the motorcycle campaign will traverse 10 states, 193 districts, 773 tehsils and 1,159 villages. The broader route is divided into multiple routes, with the journey covering about 40,000 kilometres across both directions. In Uttar Pradesh, the Kashi-to-Vadnagar route is expected to pass through 50 districts, with multiple overnight halts and stops planned along the way. Participants will interact with beneficiaries of government schemes and take part in service-oriented activities during the journey.
Youth participation and public outreach
The campaign is designed to involve young participants from different parts of the country. Organisers say the Seva Yatris will meet beneficiaries of various welfare and development schemes, including women associated with initiatives such as Lakhpati Didi and Drone Didi, as well as students and beneficiaries connected with educational programmes. The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan will continue from September 17 to October 17, with multiple service and public-outreach programmes planned across the country.
Exhibition on PM Modi’s 25 years in public life
An exhibition showcasing 25 years of Modi’s public life is also being organised at the Rudraksh Convention Centre in Varanasi. Several senior leaders, including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Union Minister Chirag Paswan and senior Uttar Pradesh BJP leaders, are expected to attend the launch events.
Campaign to culminate in October
The Kashi-Vadnagar motorcycle journey is scheduled to conclude in early October, while the wider Seva Sankalp Abhiyan will continue until October 17. The campaign includes service activities and public interactions aimed at highlighting government schemes and development initiatives.
