New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth at the 20th Rozgar Mela, calling on the younger generation to play a decisive role in shaping India’s development journey towards 2047.
The appointment letters were handed over through video conferencing as the Rozgar Mela was organised simultaneously at 45 locations across the country. PM Modi also interacted with the newly appointed candidates and addressed them on the occasion.
Youth at the centre of India’s 2047 vision
Addressing the new recruits, PM Modi said the youth would have a crucial responsibility in building a Viksit Bharat by 2047. He highlighted the growing global interest in India’s young population, skills and technological capabilities, saying the world has high expectations from the talent and potential of Indian youth. The Prime Minister said the new recruits would not merely be taking up government jobs but would also become part of the country’s development and public-service journey.
Recruits to join key government departments
The newly appointed candidates will take up responsibilities across several ministries and departments of the Union Government. These include the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services and Ministry of Defence, among others. The government has described the Rozgar Mela as an initiative aimed at creating employment opportunities for young people and strengthening their participation in nation-building.
12.75 lakh appointment letters through Rozgar Mela
With the 20th edition of the Rozgar Mela, around 12.75 lakh youth will have received appointment letters across various government departments and organisations through the initiative, according to the government. The programme has emerged as a recurring platform for inducting newly selected candidates into government service across different parts of the country.
‘Every appointment can strengthen Atmanirbhar Bharat’
PM Modi also underlined the connection between employment and India’s broader development goals. He said the contribution of young government employees would extend beyond their individual careers and support the country’s efforts towards self-reliance.
He emphasised the importance of the youth in advancing the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission and in translating the vision of a developed India into action. The Prime Minister congratulated the newly appointed candidates and acknowledged the role played by their families in helping them reach the milestone. The latest Rozgar Mela comes as the Centre continues its focus on recruitment across major government departments, with the government presenting employment generation and youth participation as key components of its development agenda.
