BHOPAL: Former IAS officer Rakesh Agarwal was found murdered at his residence in Suraj Nagar, Bhopal, with police focusing their investigation on a domestic worker who reportedly joined the household just two days before the incident and has since gone missing.
The murder came to light on Wednesday at the residence under the Ratibad police station limits. Agarwal was living at the house with his wife.
According to the available information, Agarwal’s wife was sleeping in another room and discovered his body after waking up on Wednesday morning. The former IAS officer was found with his throat slit.
Domestic Worker Missing After Murder
Police said a person had started working at the house two days before the murder. Following the incident, the worker reportedly went missing, prompting investigators to focus on him as a key suspect.
Police said the domestic worker had been hired through an agency and is currently untraceable. Investigators are examining whether he was involved in the killing and what happened immediately before and after the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the murder, including the possible motive and sequence of events, are still being investigated.
CCTV Footage Under Scanner
Police teams are examining CCTV footage from the residence and surrounding areas as part of the investigation.
The footage is expected to help investigators trace the movements of the missing worker and establish whether he was present at the residence around the time of the murder. Police are also examining his movements after the incident and gathering other evidence from the area.
