The box office remained active this week with several films competing for audiences. While Mirzapur: The Movie and Haiwaan are still finding their footing, Hanuman Ansh, the film based on Neem Karoli Baba, has continued its impressive theatrical run. Here is a look at how the three films performed on Wednesday, September 16.
Hanuman Ansh maintains its box-office momentum
Starring Shobhinaw Satyaa, Hanuman Ansh has emerged as one of the year’s biggest box-office surprises. Made on a reported budget of just Rs 2 crore, the film initially opened to modest collections before witnessing a significant turnaround from its third week. The film has continued to attract audiences despite competition from newer releases. On Day 41, Hanuman Ansh reportedly earned Rs 6 crore in India, with the film being screened across 9,203 shows. The film’s cast also includes Chandan Anand, Purnima Tiwari and Anil Rastogi.
According to the reported figures, Hanuman Ansh has now recorded:
- India gross: Rs 280 crore
- India net: Rs 273.13 crore
- Overseas gross: Rs 20.25 crore
- Worldwide gross: Rs 300.25 crore
The film added Rs 1.75 crore from overseas markets on Day 41, taking its worldwide gross beyond the Rs 300-crore mark.
Mirzapur: The Movie continues its theatrical run
Mirzapur: The Movie, featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyenndu, has also maintained a sizeable presence at the box office. As per Sacnilk figures cited in the report, the film collected Rs 3.75 crore on Day 13 across 6,991 shows. The film’s ensemble cast includes Ravi Kishan along with Tripathi, Fazal and Divyenndu.
Its reported collections stand at:
- India gross: Rs 237.64 crore
- India net: Rs 199.45 crore
- Overseas gross: Rs 49 crore
- Worldwide gross: Rs 286.64 crore
Haiwaan struggles to gain momentum
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s Haiwaan has had a slower run at the box office.The film, which also stars Saiyami Kher, Boman Irani and Shriya Pilgaonkar, opened with Rs 3 crore on Day 1. Its reported daily India collections were:
- Day 1: Rs 3 crore
- Day 2: Rs 2.50 crore
- Day 3: Rs 1.85 crore
- Day 4: Rs 0.70 crore
- Day 5: Rs 0.70 crore
- Day 6: Rs 0.55 crore
After six days, Haiwaan had reportedly collected Rs 9.30 crore in India. The film has shown limited growth during its first week in theatres, with collections remaining modest despite its star-studded cast.
