New Delhi: A Dutch travel and motorcycle vlogger has drawn attention online after sharing his experience of travelling on the Vande Bharat Express, particularly the rotating seats available in its Executive Chair Car.
Pedro Mota, who runs a YouTube channel called Madly Rover, travelled from Mumbai to Pune and was eager to experience the train’s rotating seats. He had heard about the feature before his journey and was keen to see how it worked in person.
During the trip, Mota interacted with railway staff and fellow passengers. After having his meal, he tried rotating his seat and appeared delighted when he successfully turned it. Describing the experience, he referred to the Executive Class journey as a luxury travel experience.
However, some viewers in the comments section pointed out that the Vande Bharat Express is primarily known for its speed and modern passenger facilities, rather than being classified as a luxury train.
Mota also tried adjusting his seat to enjoy the sunset through the window. He noted that the seat could not necessarily remain in that position throughout the journey. Nevertheless, he said the rotating-seat feature could be particularly useful when travelling in a group.
“The seats look very comfortable,” he remarked on his YouTube channel.
Rotating seats may face a rethink
While the rotating seats in Vande Bharat trains have attracted curiosity among passengers, senior railway engineers have reportedly recommended removing them from Executive Class coaches, according to a PTI report.
Engineers are said to favour fixed seats because they are easier to maintain. Rotating seats contain additional mechanical components that may loosen over time or stop functioning properly, potentially increasing maintenance requirements.
However, railway authorities have not yet announced any decision to remove rotating seats from Vande Bharat trains. For now, the feature remains one of the distinctive elements of the train’s Executive Chair Car, offering passengers the flexibility to adjust their seating position during the journey.
